Hi All.  We'll be updating information here about our new model.  The current image is a mockup, but we have production PCBs and are just waiting for finished enclosures before we can ship (and update the photos).

The 60 Second Discrete is a knob-per-function, all hardware, delay machine geared towards 'Frippertronics' or 'sound-on-sound' style
looping.  It's like a digital version of a tape loop that can do things no
physical tape could ever do, like change speeds and reverse direction instantly.  Although designed with multi-second looping in mind, the Discrete can also provide echoes with or without modulation, chorusing, double tracking, vibrato and flanging.

What's "discrete" about 60 Second Discrete? "Discrete" refers to the focus in this model on being able to make discrete steps of the delay time.  The Fast function can manually or automatically (based on LFO Speed) switch between two clock speeds (sample rates), with 2 ratios available.  This is the same functionality as the 60 Second Deluxe, but now has a dedicated footswitch.

The Multiply switch multiplies the delay clock by the indicated value.  This is similar to the Fast functionality but has 3 octave spaced (2:1) positions.  Multiply can be controlled by an external foot pedal in the heel, middle, and toe positions!  It can be used simultaneously and independently of Fast.

Additionally, we've added finer resolution to the Range knob, formerly the Memory switch on the 60 Second Deluxe.  Instead of 3 positions there are 9 octave spaced settings which affect how much memory is available.  Using the tape loop analogy, turning the Range from Long towards Short is like successively cutting out half of your tape loop and putting it to the side, resulting in a loop half as long, but with no pitch change.  Whatever has been recorded in the "removed" section remains untouched until Range returns to longer settings!  The finer resolution makes this knob more musically useful, where the Memory switch was typically set-it-and-forget-it.  Range can also be controlled by foot pedal!  Adjusting Range while recording can result it  glitchy, ratchety or musique concrete types of effects.

Like the 60 Second Delay and 60 Second Deluxe, the Discrete is always "listening" whether Active or not.

What's lost from the 60 Second Deluxe? In order to have foot control of Multiply and Range we've replaced the Tick and Fast jacks (Fast has a dedicated footswitch now).  If you're a modular user and these functions were important to you contact us to discuss mods to make these functions available.

  • Dimensions

The box is based on the Hammond 1550G. Yes, it's big.

    I/O

    • IN: Input jack
    • FX LOOP: Send and Return for the Regen path
    • OUTPUT: Output jack
    • DELAY: External control of delay time, can use the output side of a volume pedal with a simple 2 conductor (mono) cable. Korg EXP-2 works well (50k). Can also take CV, 0-5V
    • RANGE: External control of delay length, see DELAY specs
    • MULTIPLY: External control of delay clock multiplier.  see DELAY specs

    Knobs

    • INPUT: sets the input level.
    • MIX: sets the balance of dry signal and delayed signal.
    • TONE: sets the EQ curve of the repeats.
    • OUTPUT: adjusts the output level.
    • DEPTH: controls how much the LFO signal modulates the delay time.
    • SPEED: adjusts the speed of LFO modulation and also the speed of Auto switching between Fast and Slow.
    • REGEN: controls how much delay output is fed back to the input which controls how many repeats are heard.
    • DELAY TIME: this is the large knob that is unlabeled. Think of this like a tape speed control. Counterclockwise is slower and therefore longer delay times. Clockwise, faster, shorter delay times.
    • RANGE: sets amount of delay memory currently being used.

    Switches

    • MULTIPLY: sets the delay clock (sample rate) multiplier

    • RATIO: sets the ratio between Slow speed and Fast speed

    • AUTO/MAN. - when in Auto mode the change from Slow to Fast will happen in time with the LFO speed.

    Footswitches

    • INFINITE: When on, whatever has been recorded will repeat infinitely. No new material is recorded.
    • FAST: When on, use the fast clock (sample rate) setting
    • DIRECTION: Alternates the direction of playback, reversing audio etc.
    • ACTIVE: Bypass, On/Off, etc.

    Power

    • 12V center positive 2.5mm barrel plug.
    • Current required: 150mA.
